Dr. Daniel Yergin, Author of "The Prize," Speaks at BTU Power's Investor Forum

Dubai, United Arab Emirates — November 18, 2005

The keynote speaker at BTU Power's Investor Forum, held November 16-17 in Dubai, was Dr. Daniel Yergin. Yergin is author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power, and Chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).

BTU Power, a private equity fund focused on the power generation and water desalination industries in emerging markets, hosted the forum to share insights on new energy and project financing trends in the energy markets of the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. Attendees at the forum, held at Dubai's Ritz-Carlton Hotel, included BTU investors, senior government officials and business leaders from the Middle East, Europe, the US and Asia. Yergin's keynote address focused on the future of oil prices and supply.

Additionally, the forum included a day-long Roundtable on Energy, Technology and Finance, a series of presentations and discussions by energy experts and corporate and project finance investment bankers, exploring a series of critical issues relating to the direction and scope of energy investment. Issues addressed in this year's roundtable included the global and regional impact of rising energy prices, China's emerging role as a major energy player, Japanese energy financing for projects in the Middle East and North Africa, and new trends in Islamic law and finance for energy projects.

"BTU's goal is to lead the way in the development of globally accessible and sustainable energy infrastructure in a world that is in the early stages of a transformation to a multi-source energy future," said BTU Power's Managing Partner, Wael Almazeedi. "We hope that our guests found this gathering beneficial. Certainly, BTU and its stakeholders gained much from this, and the information taken away will be useful in the future."
